In Defense of Audiophiles
I’m still undecided about this topic. I don’t know how qualified my ears are to judge this, but I believe mp3s offer a great balance between quality and convenience.
Then again, I can see where the writer is coming from regarding intricate details and dynamic range. Some day I’d like to compare high-end sound with its compressed equivalent and listen for — in his words — “the undistorted clarity of everything sung, blown, strummed, bowed, plucked, and smacked, all at once”.
